SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Junior Anika Wagner (Elmore, Vt.) placed sixth in the hammer throw to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) women's track & field team this morning on the first day of the Black & Gold Invitational hosted by Bryant University at the Track and Turf Complex in Smithfield, R.I.
Wagner recorded a toss of 46.41 meters in the hammer for the Lyons. She also finished 30th in the discus throw with a mark of 27.55 meters.
First year Maezy Gleason (Scarborough, Maine) led Wheaton in the discus with a throw of 27.55 meters to finish 29th. Senior Madison King (Wethersfield, Conn.) placed 32nd in the hammer throw with a distance of 27.14 meters.
Wheaton returns to Smithfield tomorrow for the second day of competition at the Black & Gold Invitational.
