Loriston Earns Second Team Women's Outdoor Track & Field All-America Honors from USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Wheaton College (Mass.) women's track & field member Michaina Loriston (Boston, Mass.) was named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-America Second Team, it was announced by the USTFCCCA.

Athletes of member institutions who finished in the top-8 of their respective individual events and as part of a relay team at the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships earned First-Team All-America honors. Those who finished ninth through 16th individually and ninth through 12th as part of a relay team were named Second-Team All-America.

Loriston earns All-America honors for the second straight year and becomes the first multiple All-America honoree for the Lyons since Francesca Flynn '16, Ashante Little '14, Meredith Scannell '14 and Amber Spencer '14 in 2014. Loriston becomes the first Wheaton track & field athlete to garner All-America accolades in an individual event since Cathryn MacGregor '19 was tabbed for the javelin in 2018 and the first track athlete to earn individual honors since Emily Gustavson '17 was selected for the 200-meter dash in 2017. Loriston is also the first Lyon to earn All-America status in the 100 meters since Vernick Smith '04 in 2003.

The junior sprinter turned in a time of 11.92 to place 11th in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash at the NCAA Division III National Championship on May 23 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

In addition to earning All-America designation, Loriston previously earned All-Region honors for the 100 meters and as part of Wheaton's 4X100-meter relay team. The Boston Prep. product was also a First Team All-Conference selection for the 100 meters, while earning Second Team recognition for the 200 meters from the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference.

The Business & Management major registered her fastest 100-meter mark of the season with a time of 11.77 in the preliminaries of the NEWMAC Championship to establish a new NEWMAC Championship record to supplant the former mark set by Wheaton's Kim Jones '04 in 2001. Loriston also broke the facility record at the MHC Track & Turf in South Hadley, Mass. Loriston's 100-meter time was the 14th-fastest in the nation and also the second-fastest in school history.

The Boston native excelled all season in the sprint events for the Lyons, placing first or second in the 100 meters on four occasions, while placing second and third in two meets in the 200 meters. Loriston was an integral part of Wheaton's 4X100 relay squad that qualified for the NCAA Championship. Serving as the anchor for the unit, she helped it post a season-best mark of 45.46 for the 13th-fastest clip in the nation, while sitting tied or third in program history for the event.
