Women's Track and Field

Women's Track & Field Places 14 on NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — The Wheaton College (Mass.) women's track & field team placed 14 members on the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-Conference team, it was announced by the league.

Marguerite Bartlett (Essex, Conn.), Anella Bolster (Marcellus, N.Y.), Camille Connors (Woburn, Mass.), Abbie Cramer (Farmington, Maine), Jessie Dickson (Southbury, Conn.), Lauren Hinckley (Niantic, Conn.), Madison King (Wethersfield, Conn.), Christina Lang (Coventry, R.I.), Abby Martin (Keene, N.H.), Annabelle Sanders (Miami, Fla.), Eliza Speidel (Billerica, Mass.), Maya Thomas (Goffstown, N.H.), Morgan Zakrzewski (Taunton, Mass.) and Emily Zielinski (Orange, Conn.) were all named to the NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team.  

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2024 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

Wheaton has now boasted 11 or more honorees in each of the last seven years. 

Bartlett, King, Speidel and Zielinski all earn the honor for the third straight year, while Cramer and Martin are repeat selections for the Lyons. 

Bartlett is a senior neuroscience major. The Westbrook High School product specialized in the 800 meters for Wheaton and posted a personal-record time of 5:37.83 to place 22nd in the 1500 meters at the NEWMAC Championship on April 26 for the Lyons. King is a senior Biochemistry major. A graduate of Wethersfield High School, King competed in the shot put and hammer throw and registered a personal-best mark of 28.97 meters to place 11th in the hammer at the Gerry Gravel Classic on April 12. She also finished 12th in the shot put at the NEWMAC Championship. Speidel is a senior History major. The Chelmsford High School graduate competed in the 200 meters and was a key member of the 4X400 relay that placed third at the NEWMAC Championship. Zielinski is a senior Creative Writing major. The Amity Regional High School graduate established personal-record times in the 100 and 200 meters during the season and was a member of Wheaton's 4X100 relay team that placed second at the NEWMAC Championship and competed at the NCAA Championship. Cramer is a junior Film and New Media Major. A graduate of Mount Blue High School, Cramer was a multi-event performer for the Lyons and placed sixth in the heptathlon at the NEWMAC Championship. Cramer tallied 3364 points in the heptathlon for the seventh-highest mark in school history during her 10th-place finish at the New England Division III Championship on May 3. Martin is a junior Neuroscience major. The Keene High School product competed in the 800 and 1500 meters for Wheaton and recorded a personal-record time of 2:36.28 to place 26th in the 800 meters at the Sean Collier Invitational on April 19. 

Bolster is also a Neuroscience major and is in her second year for the Lyons. The Marcellus High School graduate was the team's best long jumper and placed ninth at the NEWMAC Championship, following her personal-best leap of 5.07 meters the weekend before at the Collier Invitational. Connors is a sophomore Elementary Education major. A graduate of Woburn Memorial High School, Connors competed in the 200 meters and helped fuel Wheaton's 4X100 relay squad. The second-year sprinter turned in a personal-record mark of 26.07 to place eighth in the 200 meters at the Collier Invitational. Dickson is a sophomore Biochemistry major. The Pomperaug High School product competed in the 200 and 400 meters and was a member of the Lyons' 4X400 relay unit. Dickson capped the year by posting a personal-best time of 1:00.21 at the Farley Inter Regional Extravaganza on May 10. Hinckley is a sophomore, who led Wheaton in the triple jump. The East Lyme High School graduate placed ninth in the triple jump at the NEWMAC Championship and ended the season by registering the seventh-best mark in school history with a distance of 10.96 meters to place eighth in the F.I.R.E. meet in Williamstown, Mass.

Lang is a sophomore Biochemistry major. The Coventry High School graduate competed exclusively in the long jump and finished 13th at the NEWMAC Championship with a personal-best mark of 4.78 meters. Sanders is a sophomore Chemistry major. The Ransom Everglades High School product battled injuries throughout the campaign after competing during the indoor season for the Lyons. Thomas is a sophomore Biochemistry major. The Goffstown High School product competed in the 200 and 400 meters, while serving as a member of the 4X400 relay team. Thomas placed seventh in the 400 meters at the NEWMAC Championship with a personal-record time of 1:00.23. Zakrzewski is a senior Environmental Science major. A graduate of Taunton High School, Zakrzewski competed in the 400 meters at the Black & Gold Invitational on March 29, before being hampered with an injury for the remainder of the season. 

The Lyons placed fourth as a team at the NEWMAC Championship and also competed in two events at the NCAA Division III National Championship to cap the season.
