GENEVA, Ohio — Junior Michaina Loriston (Boston, Mass.) placed 11th in the 100-meter dash preliminaries this afternoon to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) women's track and field team on Day Two of the NCAA Division III Championship at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Loriston posted a time of 11.92 to place fourth in the second heat of the day for the Lyons, but was 11th overall in the three heats. The top nine finishers move on to tomorrow's 100 meters final. National record-holder Lauren Jarrett (La Crosse, Wis.) of University of Wisconsin-La Crosse earned the top seed with a time of 11.54. Connecticut College first year Blessing Kieh (Monrovia, Liberia) grabbed the final qualifying spot with a mark of 11.90 to finish ninth overall.
The race concludes the season for Wheaton, which qualified for the NCAA Championship for the second straight year and has competed at the NCAA title meet in all but one year since 1997.
