BOSTON, Mass. -- Junior Anika Wagner (Elmore, Vt.) placed second in the weight throw to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) women's track & field team today at The Showdown at the Heights Endurance Challenge hosted by Boston College at The Track at New Balance in Boston, Mass.
The meet was contested by student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II and III institutions in addition to unattached athletes as well.
Wagner's toss of 15.61 meters ranks as the second-best throw in school history.Â
Sophomore Lauren Hinckley (Niantic, Conn.) finished second in the triple jump for the Lyons with a leap of 10.48 meters.
Junior Jaz Vanderhoof (Portland, Maine) led Wheaton's distance runners with a 10th-place showing in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:40.65, while first year Chloe Vescio (Douglas, Mass.) recorded a personal-record mark of 11:03.10 to finish 19th.
Sophomore Natalie Sicard (Nottingham, N.H.) led the Lyons in the 800 meters with a personal-record time of 2:40.17 to place 23rd, while junior Abby Martin (Keene, N.H.) finished 25th with a mark of 2:44.09. Senior Marguerite Bartlett (Centerbrook, Conn.) was not far behind at 2:49.61 to finish 26th in the race. Sophomore Anna Butrimas (Berlin, Conn.) turned in a time of 2:54.71, while classmate Annabelle Sanders (Miami, Fla.) was steps behind her at 2:57.82 and first year Niyati Hotha (South Brunswick, N.J.) clocked in at 3:00.70 to slot the trio in 27th, 28th and 29th place in the event.Â
First year Abby Wozniak (Blackstone, Mass.) finished 26th in the mile with a time of 5:55.58 for Wheaton.
The Lyons return to action on Friday, February 14 when they return to Boston to compete in the Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.
