MEDFORD/BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Anika Wagner (Elmore, Vt.) recorded the second-best throw in school history in the weight throw and won the event to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) women's track & field team at the Tufts Stampede Open today at the Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center in Medford, Mass. The Lyons also competed at the 2025 BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center in Boston, Mass.
Wagner's toss of 15.99 meters is the second-best in program annals by almost four tenths of a meter. She also placed eighth for the Lyons in the shot put with a heave of 10.97 meters. First year Maezy Gleason (Scarborough, Maine) recorded a personal-record mark of 10.34 in the shot put to place 14th, while junior Abbie Cramer's (Farmington, Maine) distance of 8.18 meters in the event was also a personal best.
First year Abby Wozniak (Blackstone, Mass.) led Wheaton in the 1000 meters with a personal-record time of 3:26.42 to place 13th, while classmate Maggie Cizmar (Plymouth, Mass.) also recorded a personal-best mark of 3:39.63 to finish 14th. Sophomore Annabelle Sanders (Miami, Fla.) was 16th in the race with a time of 3:59.03.
Junior Jaz Vanderhoof (Portland, Maine) posted a time of 18:55.48 to finish 16th in the 5000 meters and first year Chloe Vescio (Douglas, Mass.) clocked in with the 10th-fastest time in program history at 19:10.08 to finish 20th.
Sophomore Lauren Hinckley (Niantic, Conn.) turned in a personal-record mark of 8.37 and placed 15th in the 60 meters in addition to finishing 13th in the triple jump with a leap of 10.22 meters. Senior Eliza Speidel (Billerica, Mass.) placed 18th in the 60 meters with a clip of 8.40 and was 23rd in the 200 meters at 28.42. Sophomore Anella Bolster (Marcellus, N.Y.) registered a personal-record time of 28.95 in the 200 meters.
Sophomore Natalie Shaw (Granby, Mass.) finished 16th in the 600 meters with a time of 2:04.81 and classmate Natalie Sicard (Nottingham, N.H.) was 18th in the 800 meters with a mark of 2:48.72.
First year Niyati Hotha (South Brunswick, N.J.) posted a personal-best time of 6:28.38 to lead Wheaton in the mile with a 29th-place showing.
Junior Michaina Loriston (Boston, Mass.) posted a time of 8.10 to place 32nd in the 60-meter preliminaries at the BU Invitational and was 41st with a time of 26.02 in the open 200 meters. Junior Wendy Wooden (Sharon, Mass.) recorded a mark of 26.41 in the open 200 meters to finish 57th.
The Lyons return to the track on Saturday, February 22 when they return home to host the Post-Season Qualifier at Beard Field House.
