NEW ORLEANS, La. — Wheaton College (Mass.) women's cross country runner Jaz Vanderhoof (Portland, Maine) was named to the 2024 Women's Cross Country All-Region Team by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, it was announced today by the USTFCCCA.
A total of 349 women from 139 different programs earned All-Region distinction by virtue of a top-35 finish at one of the ten regional sites this past weekend. Only athletes from USTFCCCA member institutions are eligible for awards.
Vanderhoof earns All-Region honors for the second straight year to become the first Lyon to repeat as an All-Region women's cross country runner since Lauren Reddy '09 was recognized in 2007 and 2008.
The junior matched her finish from a year ago on the very same course. The Thornton Academy product clocked in with a season-best time of 23:00.0 at the NCAA Division III East Region Championship on November 16 on the six-kilometer course at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, N.H.
Vanderhoof was Wheaton's top runner in each of the five meets that she competed in, including the final three 6K races. She placed 25th at the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Championship on November 2 at the Nehoiden Golf Club in Wellesley, Mass. Vanderhoof led the Lyons with a 17th-place showing at the Keene State College Invitational on October 5 in Keene, N.H., crossing the five-kilometer's race's finish with a season-best mark of 18:42.2
The Maine native established the best time of her career at last year's East Regional Championship when she turned in a time of 22:49.1.
