HOPKINTON, N.H. – Junior Jaz Vanderhoof (Portland, Maine) placed 28th to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) women's cross country team this morning at the NCAA Division III East Regional Championship hosted by Suffolk University at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, N.H.
The Lyons tallied 537 points for the day to place 18th as a team and close out their season.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology registered a score of 56 as the team Champion. Graduate student Rachel Brennan (Lynn, Mass.), of Gordon College, crossed the finish line first as the individual title holder with a mark of 21:43.31 in the six kilometer race.
Vanderhoof clocked in at 22:59.93 for Wheaton and by virtue of her finish she also achieved All-East Region status from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
First year Chloe Vescio (Douglas, Mass.) turned in a time of 24:58.57 for the Lyons to place 90th overall, while first year Abby Wozniak (Blackstone, Mass.) finished 145th and nipped her personal-record time by a second at 26:29.14. Senior Marguerite Bartlett (Centerbrook, Conn.) also established a personal-best time, shaving 24 seconds off her previous standard with a time of 26:36.72 to finish 149th.
Sophomore
Natalie Sicard (Nottingham, N.H.) posted a time of 26:55.35 to finish 157th and first year
Niyati Hotha (South Brunswick, N.J.) was 172nd with a mark of 27:44.11. Sophomore
Annabelle Sanders (Miami, Fla.) recorded a clip of 29:40.01 to place 192nd.
