The Kohawks snapped a 2-2 tie with five runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 7-2 lead. Brosius led off the frame with a home run, before Johnson and Rausch grounded back-to-back singles through the left side. Junior left fielder Creighton Kreshel (San Jose, Calif.) looked to move the runners over with a bunt, but Clesas pounced off the mound and threw to third, where the throw hit the outstretched foot of the Lyon third baseman, who had gone into a stretch to try and receive the ball sooner to force the runner. Junior third baseman Jack Allison (Pleasant Hill, Iowa) followed with a sacrifice fly to right to bring home Johnson, before Elliott cleared the bases with a triple to right to make it 6-2 for Coe. Elliott later scored the Kohawks' seventh run on a wild pitch.

Coe tacked on two more runs in the eighth with two outs behind an RBI single from Eckhardt and a sacrifice fly from Johnson to give the Kohawks a 9-2 advantage.

Wheaton threatened with a rally in the ninth after loading the bases with just one out. Ambrosone reached on a single through the right side and later scored from third with the sacks full on a balk to cut the deficit to 9-3. Junior reliever Austin Divello (Oak Park, Ill.) was able to close out the inning for Coe by setting down the final two Lyons on strikes.

Wheaton scored the first two runs of the game in the top of the second inning to take a 2-0 lead. Senior catcher Robert Wirtanen (Brentwood, N.H.) led off the frame with a single, before sophomore first baseman Anthony Teberio (Andover, Mass.) drew a walk and Ambrosone singled to load the bases with one out. Guindon hit a booming fly ball over the center fielder's head to plate Wirtanen and Teberio and give the Lyons an early two-run margin.

The Kohawks got a run back in the bottom of the inning to cut the deficit in half. Kreshel worked a one-out walk and later scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-1. Coe knotted the game in the fifth when Elliott began the inning with a single and advanced to second on an overthrow, before being pushed to third on a sacrifice bunt. Junior catcher James VanHooser (Oak Hills, Calif.) brought home the tying run with a ground out to first base.

Wheaton returns to action when it takes on Rochester Institute of Technology tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Fla., while the Kohawks play Marymount University tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. in Orlando, Fla. at Northeast Regional Park.
