NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College (Mass.) baseball players Aiden Cardoza (Dartmouth, Mass.), Logan Downey (Warwick, R.I.) and Ray Toth (Granby, Mass.) were named to the 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Baseball Team, it was announced by the CSC.
The 2026 Academic All-District® Baseball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
To be eligible for consideration of this honor, nominated student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Eligible nominees must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.
The three Wheaton baseball honorees are the first to earn Academic All-District designation since Nick Croteau '23 and Stephen Quigley '22 in 2022.
Cardoza was the top starting pitcher for the Lyons and earned Second Team All-Conference accolades for the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference. The junior Business major ranked ninth in the nation with just 1.07 walks per nine innings pitched.
Downey enjoyed a breakout season for Wheaton, batting a team-leading .375 (54-144), which also ranked 10th among NEWMAC leaders. The sophomore Business major started 37 of 38 games and struck out just 11 times in 158 plate appearances for the Lyons.
Toth ranked third on the team with a .423 on-base percentage and started 35 of 37 games at third base. The senior Business and Management major also tied for the team lead with 10 doubles.
Wheaton finished the season with an overall record of 26-13, including 10-6 in league play to earn the number two seed in the NEWMAC Championship Tournament. The Lyons did not lose consecutive games all season until the final two contests in the conference tournament.
