GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wheaton College (Mass.) baseball team received the 2025-26 Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack, from the American Baseball Coaches Association, the ABCA recently announced.
The award honors ABCA member programs that posted a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the 2025-26 academic year.
Following the conclusion of the spring semester, coaches were invited to nominate their teams for the award. To qualify, a program was required to meet the following criteria:
Be a high school or college baseball program, have a head coach who is a current ABCA member and post a minimum cumulative team GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the 2025-26 academic year.
The honor marks the first time that the Lyons have been honored by the ABCA since the award's inception in 2016.
Wheaton boasted a 3.24 grade point average over both semesters combined for the academic year.
The Lyons finished the season with an overall record of 26-13, including 10-6 in league play to earn the number two seed in the NEWMAC Championship Tournament. Wheaton did not lose consecutive games all season until the final two contests in the conference tournament.
