Lamond Named to ABCA Region 1 All-Defensive Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wheaton College (Mass.) baseball player Robbie Lamond (North Kingstown, R.I.) was named to the Region 1 All-Defensive Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association, it was announced by the ABCA.

The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America Committee.

Lamond becomes the third Lyon and first Wheaton outfielder to earn a spot on the All-Defensive Team since its inception in 2023.

Lamond started all 38 games that he appeared in for the Lyons. The center fielder was nearly perfect for Wheaton, committing just one error in 108 chances to produce a gaudy .991 fielding percentage. The North Kingstown High School product also recorded an outfield assist for the Lyons. The junior closed out the season by handling 80 consecutive chances over 27 games without committing a miscue. Lamond's ability to track fly balls and his range enabled him to record five or more putouts in the outfield in seven different games for Wheaton. In addition to his fielding prowess, Lamond also batted .338 (52-154) to go with 21 stolen bases, 28 runs batted in, 36 runs scored and a .416 on-base percentage. 

For his career, the Business major has registered 224 putouts to go with an outfield assist, while making five errors for a .978 fielding mark. 

The Lyons finished the season with an overall record of 26-13, including 10-6 in league play to earn the number two seed in the NEWMAC Championship Tournament. Wheaton did not lose consecutive games all season until the final two contests in the conference tournament.
