WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Senior Jaz Vanderhoof (Portland, Maine) shattered her own school record in the 10,000 meters to place 12th in the event to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) women's track & field team on the first day of the Farley Inter Regional Extravaganza at Lee Track on host Williams College's campus in Williamstown, Mass.
Vanderhoof's time obliterated her own school standard by nearly 35 seconds with a clip of 37:14.53 for the Lyons. Sophomore Chloe Vescio (Douglas, Mass.) turned in the second-fastest time in school history by erasing her own personal-best mark by almost 44 seconds to finish with a time of 38:15.44 and place 18th in the race.
Sophomore Abby Wozniak (Blackstone, Mass.) finished 21st in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:19.26 for Wheaton.
Sophomore Reilly Hickey (Medford, Mass.) registered personal-record marks in all four of the heptathlon events, leading to a score of 2270 points to stand in 11th place for the Lyons. Hickey placed eighth in the 200 meters with a time of 27.33 in addition to placing 10th in the 100-meter hurdles with a clip of 15.92. She also finished 12th in the shot put with a heave of 8.03 meters and was 13th in the high jump with a height of 1.35 meters. Hickey will continue the heptathlon tomorrow.
Wheaton returns to the track tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. for the second day of the F.I.R.E. meet at Williams.
