ROCK ISLAND, Ill./CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Senior Michaina Loriston (Boston, Mass.) won the 100 meters at the Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier in Rock Island, Ill. to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) women's track & field team today. The Lyons also competed at the MIT Final Qualifier in Cambridge, Mass.
Loriston's season-best time of 11.80 at Augustana's Austin E. Knowlton Outdoor Athletic Complex ranks as the 16th-fastest time in NCAA Division III this season for the Lyons.
Wheaton junior Anella Bolster (Marcellus, N.Y.) placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.12 meters at MIT's Sherie and Don Morrison Track, while senior Jaz Vanderhoof (Portland, Maine) finished her career by placing sixth in the 5000 meters with a time of 18:31.84 in Cambridge.
Senior Kristen DiBella (Boston, Mass.) closed out her career with the seventh-fastest time in school history to place seventh in Rock Island with a time of 1:03.66 in the 400-meter hurdles. Her time stands as the 55th-fastest in the nation in Division III for the Lyons.
Wheaton's 4X100-meter relay unit posted a time of 47.19 to finish ninth in Rock Island behind senior Wendy Wooden (Sharon, Mass.), Loriston, junior Camille Connors (Woburn, Mass.) and senior Kate Wickenheisser (Oxford, Conn.).
Sophomore Eva Garofano (Barrington, R.I.) recorded a toss of 31.47 meters to lead the Lyon throwers and finish 14th in the discus throw at MIT.
Wheaton will await official invitations to compete in next weekend's NCAA Division III Outdoor Championship at University of Wisconsin La Crosse in La Crosse, Wis.
