SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Senior Michaina Loriston (Boston, Mass.) placed second in the 100 meters to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) women's track & field team on the final day of the New England Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship at host Springfield College's Blake Track in Springfield, Mass.
Loriston posted a time of 12.14 to earn the runner-up spot in the 100 meters for the Lyons.
Wheaton's 4X100-meter relay finished third behind senior Wendy Wooden (Sharon, Mass.), Loriston, junior Camille Connors (Woburn, Mass.) and senior Kate Wickenheisser (Oxford, Conn.) with a time of 47.37. Connors also finished 24th in the 200 meters with a time of 26.95.
Sophomore Abby Wozniak (Blackstone, Mass.) finished eighth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with the seventh-fastest time in school history, clocking in at 11:44.41 for the Lyons. Sophomore Eva Garofano (Barrington, R.I.) placed eighth in the discus throw with a mark of 36.56 meters.
Wheaton returns to the track on Friday, May 8 for the two-day Farley Inter Regional Extravaganza hosted by Williams College in Williamstown, Mass.
