MEDFORD, Mass. – Senior Michaina Loriston (Boston, Mass.) placed third in the 60-meter preliminaries to qualify for the finals to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) women's track & field team at the Tufts Final Qualifier at Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center in Medford, Mass.
Loriston clocked in at 7.74 for the third-fastest prelim time in the 60-meter dash, but elected not to compete in the final for the Lyons.
Wheaton senior Anika Wagner (Elmore, Vt.) finished fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 16.07 meters, while first year Carly Satterfield (Bowdoinham, Maine) placed sixth with a heave of 11.12 meters in the shot put.
Senior Jaz Vanderhoof (Portland, Maine) finished 13th in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:22.39 for the Lyons, while sophomore Reilly Hickey (Medford, Mass.) turned in a time of 9.79 and first year Adeline Takantjas (Belmont, N.H.) posted a mark of 10.03 to place 14th and 15th, respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles preliminaries.
Wheaton will await to see if any of its men's team members will qualify in the upcoming NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 13-14 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala.
