Gálligo, Wyshner Named NEWMAC Men's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — Wheaton College (Mass.) men's tennis players junior Jaime Gálligo (Madrid, Spain) and first year Landon Wyshner (Winston Salem, N.C.) were named the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Doubles Athletes of the Week for the week of March 23-29, it was announced today by the NEWMAC.

The award marks the second time that Gálligo has earned the honor after being named with Pablo Munoz (Paris, France) last year on April 14. Gálligo was also tabbed the NEWMAC Men's Tennis Singles Athlete of the Week on March 10 last season.

Gálligo and Wyshner were outstanding, winning both of their doubles contests during the week, including a NEWMAC tilt. The Lyon duo began the week with a 6-3 win at Bridgewater State University over Bears' senior Adam Beatrice (Rockland, Mass.) and sophomore Khiem Nguyen (Burlington, Vt.) at number one on March 25. The Wheaton pairing closed the week with a 6-3 victory over Springfield College's tandem of first-year Austin Prendiville (City Beach, Australia) and senior Marc Villanueva Abad (Barcelona, Mexico) at the top doubles spot.

For the season, Gálligo and Wyshner own a 7-3 mark at number one doubles and have won four consecutive matches dating back to March 11. The tandem has surrendered three or fewer games in five matches this season, including a pair of shutout victories.

Individually, Gálligo has posted a 6-2 mark at number one singles, while Wyshner has not lost a singles match since September 17, 2025 and has won eight eight outings. The rookie owns an 8-1 record at third singles to lead the Lyons in singles wins.

Wheaton is currently 6-3 overall and 0-1 in league play and has won four of its last five dual matches. The Lyons return to the courts on Friday, April 3 when they host NEWMAC foe No. 8 Babson College for a 3:30 p.m. match on the Clark Tennis Courts in Norton, Mass.
