BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior sprinter Michaina Loriston (Boston, Mass.) finished 17th in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship this afternoon at Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala.
Loriston finished sixth in the second heat of the day with a time of 7.672 to place 17th overall.
The top eight qualifiers advance to tomorrow's final heat.
The Boston Preparatory product posted a season-best time of 7.60 at the New England Division III Championship on March 1 to qualify for the NCAA Championship. The mark was the 14th-fastest in the nation heading into the title meet in Birmingham.
Loriston competed at the Indoor Championship last season as well, placing 18th. She set the school record in the event with a time of 7.53 last season. She becomes the first Lyon to qualify in consecutive seasons for the NCAA Division III Championship in the event since Margaret Walker '22 in 2021 and 2022.
Wheaton will now focus on the outdoor season and will compete again on March 27 when it takes part in the Black & Gold Invitational hosted by Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I.
