NORTON, Mass. — Senior Olivia Macdonald (Toronto, Ont.) won the solo to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) artistic swimming team to a victory over Boston University's club team today at the Wheaton Invitational in Balfour Natatorium on the Wheaton campus in Norton, Mass.
Following the meet, Wheaton honored Macdonald and senior manager and former team member, Josephine Basco (Painsville, Ohio) in a brief ceremony.
Macdonald tallied 180.9100 points to top Boston University's entry of Jacqueline Joyce, who scored 84.4113 points.
The Lyon duo of first year Ava Salomone (Norristown, Pa.) and junior Renée Goldfinger (Hoboken, N.J.) combined to tally 192.0296 points to finish first, while Wheaton sophomore Sierra Bausemer (Plainville, Mass.) and first year Gabrielle Bausemer (Plainville, Mass.) totaled 81.1500 points to finish second for the Lyons. BU's pairing of Audrey Lindsay and Blanca Sanchez Albinana scored 75.3500 points.
Wheaton also dominated in the trio, scoring 120.9017 points behind Sierra Bausemer, junior Scout Lowrie (Franklin, N.J.) and sophomore Julie Mahoney (Andover, Mass.). The Terriers placed second with Lindsay, Sofia Luce and Martina Nacach Cowan Ros scoring 64.8000 points.
The Lyons concluded the meet with a win in the team routine as well, racking up 93.4870 points. Wheaton's contingent was comprised of Sierra Bausmer, Goldfinger, Lowrie, Macdonald, Mahoney, Salamone and first years Eldar Blazh (Weston, Mass.) and El Parks (Tacoma, Wash.). BU tallied 66.0750 points to finish second.
The Lyons return to action on Saturday, February 28 when they host the East Regional Championship at 8:40 a.m.
