STANFORD, Calif. — The Wheaton College (Mass.) artistic swimming team placed third to register its highest finish ever at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships. The meet was hosted by Stanford University at Avery Aquatic Center in Stanford, Calif.
The Lyons tallied 70 points to finish ahead of Texas Woman's University's total of 60. Host Stanford won its fifth straight MPSF title with 101 points ahead of runner-up University of the Incarnate Word's count of 89 points.
The final day of competition wrapped up with the trio and team competitions. Wheaton finished sixth in both competitions.
Sophomore Sierra Bausemer (Plainville, Mass.), combined with junior Scout Lowrie (Franklin, N.J.) and sophomore Julie Mahoney (Andover, Mass.) to score 106.0167 points to finish sixth in the trio for the Lyons. Sophomores Megumi Field, Dalia Ovadia (Danville, Calif.) and first year Karen Xue (Alamo, Calif.) won the category with a score of 224.8996 points for Stanford.
Wheaton's score of 122.1284 points placed sixth in the team competition. The Lyons were comprised of Bausemer, first year Eldar Blazh (Weston, Mass.), junior Renée Goldfinger (Hoboken, N.J.), Lowrie, junior Olivia Macdonald (Toronto, Ont.), Mahoney and first year Ava Salamone (Norristown, Pa.). Stanford also topped the field in the team competition behind junior Elisa Brunel (Austin, Texas), senior Yujin Chang (San Jose, Calif.), senior Emily Ding (Cupertino, Calif.), senior Atira O'Neil (Pleasant Hill, Calif.), junior Manu Pindi (Flower Mound, Texas), first year Simone Radom (Calgary, Alb.), junior Ella Rau (Portland, Ore.), first year Yanna Hauck (Belmont, Mass.), sophomore Haley Chu (Dallas, Texas) and junior Cambell McMillan (Portland, Ore.) with 206.5058 points.
Wheaton returns to action on Sunday, February 22 when it hosts The Ohio State University and Boston University club for the Wheaton Invitational at 10:00 a.m.
