NORTON. Mass. — Wheaton College (Mass.) women's fencing team member Norah Vaughan (Hope Hull, Ala.) was named to the United States Fencing Coaches Association All-Academic Team in addition to being tabbed a Scholar of Distinction, it was announced by the USFCA.
To qualify for the All-Academic Team, competitors must have competed for one academic year and earned a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.3. Scholars of Distinction must have achieved a GPA of at least 3.7.
The senior was previously named to the Northeast Fencing Conference Women's Fencing Academic All-Conference team. Vaughan is a first year Art major. The Evangel Christian School graduate was named All-Region by the United States Fencing Coaches Association after posting a 67-31 (.684) bout record in foil and placing 27th at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship.
Wheaton finished 0-27 in its first-ever season of competition.
