SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. — Wheaton College (Mass.) men's lacrosse players Connor Almstrom (Cumberland, R.I.), Jack Board (Westborough, Mass.), John Drew (North Andover, Mass.) and Charlie Racine (Oradell, N.J.) were named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-Academic Team, it was announced by the NEILA.
Members of the teams are nominated by Head Coaches in Divisions I, II and II, and are comprised of student-athletes, who have excelled both in the classroom and on the field over the course of their men's lacrosse career. Nominees must have senior or graduate student standing, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale, and be an impact player for their team.
Almstrom is a senior Accounting major. The Cumberland High School product was seventh among conference leaders with a .531 save percentage, while leading the league with 13.13 saves per contest.
Board is a senior Economics and Business & Management double major. A graduate of Westborough High School, Board saw action in all 15 games and ranked fifth on the squad with 14 goals to go with eight assists.
Drew is a senior Business & Management major. The North Andover High School graduate saw time in five matches for Wheaton and posted a 13.53 goals against mark in addition to a .538 save percentage.
Racine is a senior Biology major with a Pre-Veterinarian track. The River Dell High School grad managed to rank fifth on the team with 14 goals, despite missing the final four games of the season due to injury. He finished with 25 points and 13 ground balls in 11 contests.
The Lyons finished the season with a 7-8 record, including a 1-6 mark in conference play.
