BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Junior Kristen DiBella (Boston, Mass.) won the 800 meters and both the 4X100 and 4X400 relay squads placed first to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) women's track & field team today at the BSU Bears Invitational at the Edward C. Swenson Athletic Complex in Bridgewater, Mass.
DiBella turned in a personal-best time of 2:28.02 for the Lyons.
Wheaton senior Emily Zielinski (Orange, Conn.), junior Wendy Wooden (Sharon, Mass.), sophomore Camille Connors (Woburn, Mass.) and junior Michaina Loriston, Mass.) combined on a winning time of 48.25 in the 4X100-meter relay. The Lyons' 4X400-meter relay posted a season-best mark of 4:10.40 behind sophomore Jessie Dickson (Southbury, Mass.), first year Mimi Batista (Peabody, Mass.), sophomore Maya Thomas (Goffstown, N.H.) and senior Eliza Speidel (Billerica, Mass.).
Junior Kate Wickenheisser (Oxford, Conn.) finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-record time of 1:10.82, while junior Abbie Cramer (Farmington, Maine) was third in the event with a personal-best mark of 1:12.12. First year Reilly Hickey (Medford, Mass.) was the runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles for the Lyons with a time of 18.17.
Loriston clocked in with a clip of 25.30 to finish third in the 200 meters to lead a heavy Wheaton contingent in the event. Zielinski also posted a personal-best with a time of 26.25 and was followed in seventh by Connors, who turned in a personal-record time of 26.36. Dickson was 11th in the race with a time of 27.26.
Sophomore Anella Bolster (Marcellus, N.Y.) finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 4.91 meters for the Lyons, while sophomore Christina Lang (Coventry, R.I.) registered a personal-best mark of 4.62 meters to place sixth in the event. Wooden finished sixth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.95 and Wickenheisser was eighth with a time of 13.08. Sophomore Lauren Hinckley (Niantic, Conn.) and Bolster each recorded personal-best times in the event to place ninth and 15th, respectively. Hinckley crossed at 13.31 and Bolster was at 13.78. Sophomore Natalie Shaw (Granby, Mass.) led Wheaton with a time of 1:08.10 to finish fourth in the 400 meters.
Wheaton returns to action tomorrow when it travels to Northampton, Mass. to compete in the Carla Coffey Invitational at host Smith College at 11:00 a.m.
