Goldfinger Leads Artistic Swimming at 2025 Collegiate Championships

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Sophomore Renée Goldfinger (Hoboken, N.J.) placed ninth in the solo free to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) artistic swimming team at the 2025 Collegiate Championships at Eastern Michigan University's Michael H. Jones Natatorium in Ypsilanti, Mich.

Goldfinger led the Lyons in the solo free with a score of 142.0813. Classmate Olivia Macdonald (Toronto, Ont.) finished 10th in the event with a score of 138.3813. First year Marloes Steenbeek of University of the Incarnate Word claimed the solo title with a tally of 198.2725 points to win by just over three points.

Goldfinger and Macdonald combined to post a score of 150.5517 to finish eighth in the duet free final for Wheaton. Stanford University first years Megumi Field (Wilmington, Del.) and Dalia Ovadia (Danville, Calif.) won the duet crown with a score of 241.0570 by less than half a point.

Goldfinger placed 12th in the collegiate B figures with a score of 72.4116 for the Lyons, while senior Hannah Halberg (New York City, N.Y.) finished 15th in the category with 70.8231 points. The Ohio State University sophomore Rikkie Evans (Springfield, Va.) racked up 79.4490 points to outscore the field for first place.

Macdonald finished 12th in the collegiate A figures for Wheaton with a score of 72.4181. Junior Ruby Remati (Andover, Mass.) totaled 83.7090 points to finish first for Ohio State.

Five Lyons finished among the top 13 in the collegiate C figures. First  year Julie Mahoney (Andover, Mass.) finished fifth with a score of 61.3058, while junior Josephine Basco (Painesville, Ohio) was right behind at 60.7045 to place seventh. Senior Marina Greenwood (Santa Cruz, Calif.) finished eighth at 60.6014 and sophomore Scout Lowrie (Franklin, N.J.) was 11th with a total of 58.5223 points. First year Paige Warda (Auburn, Calif.) scored 58.1718 points to finish 13th. Mae Turman won the title with a score of 63.2577 points for University of Minnesota artistic swimming club. 

Wheaton first year Sierra Bausemer (Plainville, Mass.) turned in a runner-up effort in the collegiate D figures with a score of 56.2512 to finish right behind the winning score of 57.5314 by sophomore Allison Yang (Ann Arbor, Mich.).

The Lyons return to the pool tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. when they compete in the collegiate trio competition.
