BOSTON, Mass. — Junior Anika Wagner (Elmore, Vt.) placed third in the weight throw and classmate Michaina Loriston (Boston, Mass.) placed fifth in the 60-meter dash to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) women's track & field team today at the New England Division III Indoor Regional Championship today at The Track at New Balance in Boston, Mass.
The Lyons tallied 10 points to place 19th overall in the meet. Williams College captured the team crown with 142.5 points.
Wagner recorded a personal-record toss of 16.33 meters in the weight throw to better the second-farthest throw in school history for Wheaton. Loriston posted a time of 7.78 in the 60 meters. She also placed 14th in the 200 meters with a personal-best time of 25.34 to mark the ninth-fastest sprint in school annals in the event.
Sophomore Jessie Dickson (Southbury, Conn.) clocked in at 1:00.52 to finish 22nd and lead the Lyons in the 400 meters. Dickson later opened the 4X400-meter relay, before yielding to senior Morgan Zakrzewski (Taunton, Mass.), who was followed by first year Mimi Batista (Peabody, Mass.) and sophomore Maya Thomas (Goffstown, N.H.) in the anchor leg to post a time of 4:09.99 in a 12th-place effort for Wheaton.
The Lyons return to the track on Saturday, March 8 when they travel to Medford, Mass. to compete in the Indoor National Qualifier meet at host Tufts University.
