BOSTON, Mass. – The Wheaton College (Mass.) women's track & field team competed today at The Showdown at the Heights Velocity Cup hosted by Boston College at The Track at New Balance in Boston, Mass.
First year Maezy Gleason (Scarborough, Maine) was the Lyons' top finisher for the day, placing seventh in the shot put with a heave of 10.04 meters. Junior Anika Wagner (Elmore, Vt.) was not far behind with a toss of 10.01 meters to finish eighth in the event.
Sophomore Anella Bolster (Marcellus, N.Y.) finished ninth in the long jump with a leap of 4.39 meters, while junior Michaina Loriston (Boston, Mass.) recorded a time of 8.04 seconds to finish ninth in the preliminaries of the 60 meters. In addition, Loriston also placed 20th in the 200 meters with a mark of 26.21. Junior Wendy Wooden (Sharon, Mass.) was not far behind Loriston in the 60 meters with a time of 8.17 to place 18th in the prelims.
Sophomore Jessie Dickson (Southbury, Conn.) finished 15th with a time of 1:01.04 in the 400 meters. Classmate Maya Thomas (Goffstown, N.H.) posted a personal-record time of 1:02.08 to place 20th in the race, while first year Mimi Batista (Peabody, Mass.) clocked in with a personal-best time of 1:04.77 to finish 30th.
Wheaton returns to Boston tomorrow when it competes in The Showdown at the Heights Endurance Challenge at 10:00 a.m.
