NEW ORLEANS, La. — Wheaton College (Mass.) women's cross country runner Jaz Vanderhoof (Portland, Maine) was named to the 2025 Women's Cross Country All-Region Team by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, it was announced today by the USTFCCCA.
Athletes earned All-Region distinction by virtue of a top-35 finish at one of the ten regional sites this past weekend. Only athletes from USTFCCCA member institutions are eligible for awards.
Vanderhoof earns All-Region honors for the third straight year to become the first Lyon to be named All-Region in three straight years since Megan Brousseau '08 was tapped in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
The senior turned in a personal-best time of 22:21.8 to place 21st in the six-kilometer NCAA Division III East Region Championship race hosted by Suffolk University at Hopkinton Fair Grounds in Hopkinton, N.H. Her finish was the highest at the NCAA Regional Championship since Brousseau placed 11th in 2006.
Vanderhoof is recognized for her effort for the second time in a span of two weeks after being named All-Conference following a 16th-place showing at the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Championship on November 1 on the Mark Coogan Cross Country Course at a windy Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass.
A graduate of Thornton Academy, Vanderhoof was the top finisher in seven races for Wheaton this season. She finished 23rd at the Shawn M. Nassaney Invitational on September 6 with a time of 19:30.2 in the 3.1 mile race hosted by Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I. The Psychology major posted a personal-record time of 19:11.4 to finish 71st in the five-kilometer New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athlete Association Championship at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, N.H. on October 10. Vanderhoof opened the season by placing 40th at the Suffolk Short Course Classic with a three-kilometer mark of 12:04.
Vanderhoof will complete her collegiate cross country career this weekend when she competes at the NCAA Division III National Championship on Saturday, November 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Milliken Research Park in Spartanburg, S.C.
