HOPKINTON, N.H. – Senior Jaz Vanderhoof (Portland, Maine) posted the highest finish (21st) since at least 2011 to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) women's cross country team this afternoon at the NCAA Division III East Region Championship, hosted by Suffolk University at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, N.H.
The Lyons tallied 423 points to place 14th as a team for their highest finish since they placed 11th in 2021.
Tufts University placed five runners among the top 14 and won the team title with 51 points. Massachusetts Institute of Technology senior Kate Sanderson (West Hartford, Conn.) clocked in at 21:21 to win the six-kilometer race.
Vanderhoof was one of five runners to register personal-record times on the day for Wheaton. She registered a mark of 22:21.8 to earn All-East Region status from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the third straight year to become the first Lyon to earn All-Region designation three times since Megan Brousseau '08 did so from 2004-06. Sophomore Abby Wozniak (Blackstone, Mass.) also finished with a personal-best time, crossing the line at 23:09 to place 49th, while sophomore Chloe Vescio (Douglas, Mass.) finished 87th with a time of 24:23.

Abby Martin (Keene, N.H.) turned in a personal-best clip of 25:47 to finish 138th overall for the Lyons. First year
Sophia Woodcock (Warrington, Pa.) and sophomore
Maggie Cizmar (Plymouth, Mass.) were within steps of each other, while recording personal-record marks. Woodcock came in at 26:15 to finish 155th and Cizmar placed 157th behind a time of 26:21.1. First year
Norah McLeod (Arundel, Maine) closed out the day for Wheaton with a time of 27:08 to finish 175th.
