MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — Wheaton College (Mass.) field hockey player Abby Miller (Andover, Mass.) was named to the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Second Team, it was announced today by the league.

Miller earns the honor for the second straight year and becomes the first non-goalie to earn All-Conference honors as a defensive player in multiple seasons for the Lyons.

The senior was a staple in Wheaton's defensive unit playing every second of every game in 18 starts. In addition to playing outstanding one-on-one defense, the back was actively responsible for keeping the ball out of the cage with eight defensive saves to rank 15th in the nation and second among NEWMAC leaders. The Andover High School product was especially dominant during a four-game stretch where she tallied six defensive saves from September 27 to October 7 to help the Lyons post a 3-1 mark during the stretch. The Biochemistry major was part of a defensive front that allowed one or fewer markers on nine occasions, including six shutouts. Miller helped Wheaton's defense register a scoreless streak of 235:36 minutes from September 30 until October 12 to mark the longest stretch in school history without allowing a goal. 

For her career, Miller has started all 71 matches she's appeared in, while missing just two games during her four-year tenure in Norton. She has racked up 24 defensive saves in four seasons. In addition, the Bay State native has been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad for every year she's been eligible, while being tabbed to the NFHCA Scholars of Distinction in recognition of a 3.90 GPA or better twice. Miller was also named the Defensive Athlete of the Week during the 2024 campaign.

The Lyons finished the season with an overall record of 8-10, including 3-6 in league play.
