MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — Six Wheaton College (Mass.) student-athletes have been named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference 2025 Fall All-Sportsmanship Team, it was announced by the NEWMAC.
The award is intended to recognize one student-athlete from each institution in every sport that best demonstrates the ideals of the NEWMAC and its Code of Conduct, regardless of their overall performance or statistics for the season.
Senior women's soccer player Francesca Freeman (Portland, Maine), first year cross country runner Ellie Gilman (Brunswick, Maine), senior field hockey player Maddie Hatch (Gorham, Maine), senior women's volleyball player Hollis Hanson (Parker, Colo.), first year men's cross country runner Jack Kittredge (Broad Brook, Conn.) and senior men's soccer player Baden McLaughlin (Yarmouth, Maine) were selected to the team for the Lyons.
Freeman battled back from injury from the previous season to start all 14 matches that she appeared in, while notching an assist vs. Mount Holyoke College on October 4. Gilman ran in four races during her rookie campaign and placed 89th with a season-best time of 26:39.6 at the NEWMAC Championship on November 1. Hatch started all 18 matches in the backfield for Wheaton and registered a pair of defensive saves. Hanson saw action in 28 matches, while ranking second on the team with 0.48 blocks per set to go with 1.08 points per frame. Kittredge competed in six meets for the Lyons and posted a season-best time of 29:44.1 at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on September 20, before finishing 90th at the NEWMAC Championship. McLaughlin ranked fourth on the team with five goals and 12 points and was named NEWMAC Offensive Athlete of the Week during the season.
