KEENE, N.H. — The Wheaton College (Mass.) women's cross country team placed 24th this afternoon at the Keene State Invitational hosted on the Keene State College campus in Keene, N.H.
The Lyons tallied 666 points to place 24th in the six-kilometer race, while Williams College's top seven runners all placed in the top ten to lead the Ephs to a first place finish with 18 points. Williams College junior Tamar Byl-Brann (Amherst, Mass.) earned the individual title with a time of 21:13.40.
Wheaton first year Ellie Gilman (Brunswick, Maine) placed 157th overall to lead the Lyons, clocking in at 25:52.30 in her collegiate debut on the six-kilometer circuit. Classmate Sophie Woodcock (Warrington, PA) followed closely behind, eclipsing her personal-best mark by a minute and a half at 23:56.00 for 160th place. Sophomore Niyati Hotha (Littleton, Mass.) came through at 27:23.00 to place 206th, followed up by first year Caeli Wagner (Hingham, Mass.) who turned in a time of 28:21.70, a 30-second personal record that placed her 230th. Junior Anna Butrimas (Berlin, CT) shaved over 30 seconds off her personal standard after running a time of 28:54.70 to place 239th.
Placing 266th, first year Kaylin Emerson (New Boston, N.H.) came in at 30:40.90, with junior Annabelle Sanders (Miami, FL) finishing for the Lyons in a time of 32:58.50 for 274th place.
Wheaton continues its season on Friday, October 10 at the Hopkinton Cross Country Festival in Hopkinton, NH at 2:00 PM.
