WATERFORD, Conn. — Wheaton College (Mass.) women's cross country senior Jaz Vanderhoof (Portland, Maine) turned in the team's top time and sophomore Abby Wozniak (Blackstone, Mass.) clocked in with the highest finish to lead the Lyons in this morning's Connecticut College Cross Country Invitational at Harkness Park in Waterford, Conn.
Vanderhoof represented Wheaton in the women's varsity Blue race, placing 128th overall with a mark of 22:58.92. Middlebury College junior Audrey MacLean (Tiburon, Calif.) won the race with a time of 20:17.20.
The Lyons placed 24th in the White race, scoring a total of 637 points, with Williams College earning first place with 20 points, fueled by the top four finishers and five runners in the top ten. First year Estella Laird (Lincoln, Vt.) of Williams was the individual winner with a time of 22:02.60.
Wozniak knocked over thirty seconds off her personal record, crossing the line in 23:19.60 to place 39th with classmate Chloe Vescio (Douglas, Mass.) following behind at 23:48.30 for 64th place. Senior Abby Martin (Keene, N.H.) placed 214th with her personal-record time of 25:57.40, while sophomore Niyati Hotha (Littleton, Mass.) crossed the line in 248th place, clocking in at 26:41.90, a personal record. Classmate Maggie Cizmar (Plymouth, Mass.) followed closely behind with her own personal best in 26:45.80 to place 250th to round out the scoring for Wheaton. First year Norah McLeod (Arundel, Maine) finished a second later with a mark of 26:46.70 for 252nd place.
Yet another personal record, Caeli Wagner (Hingham, Mass.) cleared nearly a minute off her previous time for a 290th-place finish with a time of 27:39.80 for the Lyons. Junior Anna Butrimas (Berlin, Conn.) earned herself a 321st place finish with her time of 29:00.10, as classmate Annabelle Sanders (Miami, Fla.) finished in 333rd place with a season-best clip of 30:30.60.
Wheaton runs again in the 2025 New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference Championship, hosted by the Lyons at Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass., on Saturday, November 1, at 12:00 p.m.
