Greenwood, Bausemer Lead Artistic Swimming at BU Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. -- Senior Marina Greenwood (Santa Cruz, Calif.) and first year Sierra Bausemer (Plainville, Mass.) led the Wheaton College (Mass.) artistic swimming team with wins in the "C" and "D" figures, respectively, this afternoon at the BU Invitational hosted by the Boston University synchronized swimming club team at the Boston University Fitness and Recreation Center in Boston, Mass.

The Lyons dominated the "C" figures, boasting the top four finishers.

Greenwood posted a final mark of 61.4730 to place first for Wheaton. She received an average score of 6.2083 in figure one, from the four judges in addition to a mark of 6.1167 for the second figure. The Business & Management major was awarded a score of 5.9750 for the third figure and saved her best for last with a 6.2917 mark for the fourth figure.

Junior Josephine Basco (Painesville, Ohio) was right on Greenwood's heels with an overall tally of 60.9183. She earned a score of 5.9833 for the first figure and got stronger with consistent scores to finish out her routine, scoring 6.1000 for figure two, 6.0500 for figure three and 6.2333 for the final figure.

First year Paige Warda (Auburn, Calif.) registered a mark of 5.7917 for the first figure, before improving with a score of 5.8500 for the second figure. She recorded the best mark of the day for the third figure at 6.1250 and finished the fourth figure with a score of 5.9417 to give her a final count of 59.2557 to finish third in the competition. Sophomore Scout Lowrie (Franklin, N.J.) finished with an overall score of 55.8301 to place fourth overall for Wheaton. She received a mark of 5.8833 in the opening figure, before posting a strong mark of 6.1083 for the second figure. She closed out the routine with marks of 5.5417 and 5.7167 in the final two figures.

Jacqueline Joyce was the top finisher for Boston University with a final score of 55.8301. Reese Alesi placed sixth for BU at 54.6969 and Martina Nacach Cowan Ros finished with a mark of 52.6936.

Bausemer's final score of 57.0447 gave the Lyon rookie the victory in the "D" figures by more than two points. She was awarded a mark of 5.5500 in the opening figure, before scoring 5.7833 for figure two. Bausemer registered a score of 5.6667 for figure three and closed out her effort with a mark of 5.7917 for the fourth figure.

Lindsey Audrey was the runner-up in the "D" figures for BU, scoring a total of 54.8792 points. Sofia Luce placed third with an overall mark of 53.5181.

Wheaton returns to the pool on Saturday, February 1 when it travels to Columbus, Ohio to compete in the Jessica Beck Invitational hosted by The Ohio State University at 2:00 p.m.
