Box Score

SANFORD, Fla. – Junior Daniel Bor (Seattle, Wash.) and first years Jaime Galligo (Madrid, Spain) and first year Calvin Van Dyke (Albuquerque, N.M.) were all double-winners to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) men's tennis team over Loras College, 7-2, this afternoon at Sylvan Lake Park in Sanford, Fla.

The Lyons improve to 4-3 on the season, while the Duhawks slip to 3-5.

Wheaton took a 2-1 lead after doubles play, before winning five of six singles matches to earn the dual match victory.

Galligo won in straight sets at number one singles for the Lyons, 7-5, 6-1, over Loras sophomore Gage Becker (Yankton, S.D.), while Bor dropped just three games at fourth singles to dispose of sophomore Lucas Healy (Dixon, Ill.), 6-2, 6-1. Van Dyke had little trouble at fifth singles as well with a 6-2, 6-4 effort over graduate student Sean Gelski (Rock Island, Ill.) to capture the fifth point of the afternoon for Wheaton to secure the dual match victory.

Galligo teamed with senior Eli Hanlon (Branford, Conn.) to defeat senior Thomas Kampmier (Rockford, Ill.) and Healy, 8-6, at number one doubles to pull Wheaton even in the match at 1-1. Bor and Van Dyke combined at third doubles for an 8-3 triumph over junior Kareem Kassas (Dubuque, Iowa) and first year Diego Hernandez Arrazate (Houston, Texas) to give the Lyons the lead for good at 2-1.

First year Paul Berteaux (Courbevoie, France) was a 7-5, 7-5 winner for Wheaton at number two singles over Kassas, while first year Jack Thain (The Woodlands, Texas) claimed victory at sixth singles after taking a grueling first set, 7-6 (2), over first year Samuel Cañas Guerrero (Apodaca, Mexico), before settling in for a 6-3 win in the second frame to take the match.

The Duhawks received wins at number two doubles and third singles. Kampmier gutted out a 7-6 (4) first set over Lyon first year Jake Murray (San Diego, Calif.), before taking the second set, 6-4 to cut the match deficit to 4-2 for Loras. Becker and Canas paired for an 8-2 result at number two doubles over Berteaux and Murray to grab the first point of the dual match for the Duhawks.

Wheaton returns to action on Thursday, March 14 when it plays Emerson College at 11:00 a.m. in a New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference match at the United States Tennis Association National Campus in Orlando, Fla., while Loras takes on Anderson University tomorrow at the USTA campus at 11:00 a.m.
