Women's Fencing Defeated at Wagner, 24-3

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – First year Norah Vaughan (Hope Hull, Ala.) was undefeated in a 24-3 loss to host Wagner College this morning at the Wagner Invitational at the Spiro Sports Center in Staten Island, N.Y.

The Lyons fall to 0-17, while the Seahawks improve to 10-10.

Vaughan won all three of her bouts in the foil round. She was the victor in three straight bouts by a count of 5-2. She began with a win over sophomore Redmond Sullivan (Madison, Conn.), before taking down senior Alex Cole (Waterford, Conn.). Vaughan closed out her round with a victory over sophomore Renata Ziganova (Kazan, Russia).

Wheaton first year Valerie Oginsky (Montgomery, N.J.) was winless in her three bouts in epee. She was defeated by junior Sofia Lopez Meneses (Leon, Mexico), 5-0 and was downed by first year Maria Fernanda Lopez Meneses (Leon, Mexico) by a count of 5-1. Oginsky fell to sophomore Natalja Stiller (Vordingborg, Denmark) in her final bout, 5-2.
