GRANVILLE, Ohio — Wheaton College (Mass.) women's fencer Norah Vaughan (Hope Hull, Ala.) was named to the United States Fencing Coaches Association All-Northeast Region Team, it was announced by the organization.
Vaughan enjoyed an impressive rookie campaign for the Lyons in their inaugural campaign. The first year placed 27th at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship, hosted by Tufts University, after advancing to the Second Round on March 9 in Medford, Mass. A graduate of Evangel Christian School, Vaughan posted an outstanding win-loss mark of 67-31 (.684) during the season, including 18 shutout victories. The Art major was undefeated in 13 different matches and failed to earn a win in just two of 27 dual matches during the balance of the campaign. Vaughan strung together 13 consecutive triumphs during the year and suffered six losses by just one point. The Alabama native began the season by recording a 7-2 record to finish seventh out of 68 competitors at the New England Intercollegiate Fencing Conference Big One Invitational in Northampton, Mass.
Wheaton finished 0-27 in its first-ever season of competition.
