Vaughan Ranks Seventh at NEIFC Big One Invitational

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – First year Norah Vaughan (Hope Hull, Ala.) ranked seventh to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) women's fencing team in its first-ever event at The 2024 New England Intercollegiate Fencing Conference Big One Invitational hosted by Smith College at Scott Gym in Northampton, Mass.

Vaughan makes history as the first female fencer to ever compete for the Lyons as a varsity student-athlete. She ranked seventh out of 68 competitors in the senior women's foil.

The first year was outstanding in her collegiate debut, going 5-1 in her pool in the senior women's foil. She ultimately advanced to the Table of 8, before suffering her first loss of the day. Vaughan defeated Sacred Heart University first year Megan DePersis, 15-5, in the Table of 32, before taking down Massachusetts Institute of Technology first year Sofia Eun-Young Guerra (University Place, Wash.), 15-10, in the Table of 16. Vaughan fell in the Table of 8 to MIT sophomore Amber Peng (Irvine, Calif.), 15-11.

Wheaton returns to action tomorrow when they compete at the Drew Invitational hosted by Drew University in Madison, N.J.
