SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Junior Jordan Pinnix (Manchester, Conn.) placed first in the 60-meter hurdles to help lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) men's track & field team this afternoon at the Massasoit Classic hosted by Springfield College in Springfield, Mass. and qualified for the NCAA Division III New England Championship.
The Lyons won three events and registered seven personal-record performances.
Pinnix posted a time of 8.41 in the 60-meter hurdles, while first year Kevin Smith (Norfolk, Mass.) placed sixth in the race with a time of 9.26.
Junior Noah White (Winchester, Mass.) led a trio of Wheaton performers in the 3000 meters with a first-place time of 9:04.33, while senior Matt Lambert (Hampton, N.H.) turned in a personal-record time of 9:24.59 to finish third. Sophomore Nick Lacroix (Bedford, N.H.) placed fourth with a mark of 9:36.14.
Sophomore Kai Hillier (Hinesburg, Vt.) also had a standout day for the Lyon distance runners with a time of 16:09.83 to win the 5000 meters.
Junior Kelvin Peterson (Eliot, Maine) registered a pair of top-three finishes on the day for Wheaton. He finished as the runner-up in the 200 meters with a time of 23.14, while placing third in the 60 meters with a clip of 7.10.
First year Charlie Stockwell established a personal-record time of 2:48.81 to place sixth in the 1000 meters, while classmate Logan Quinn led the Lyons in the field events with a personal-record heave of 12.09 meters to place seventh in the weight throw.
Wheaton returns to the track on Saturday, January 27 at Beard Field House when it hosts the Wheaton Invitational at 10:00 a.m.
