MEDFORD, Mass. — Wheaton College (Mass.) Kevin Smith (Norfolk, Mass.) placed sixth in the heptathlon with a school-record point total to lead the men's track & field team this afternoon at the New England DIII Indoor Regional Championship hosted by Tufts University's Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center in Medford, Mass.
Smith tallied 4294 points to supplant the former program standard of 4258 set by Hunter Ingoldsby on February 1, 2020 at the same Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center.
Smith highlighted his two-day effort with a first-place finish in the 60 meters with a time of 7.18. He placed fifth in both the 60-meter hurdles with a mark of 8.94 and the 1000 meters with a mark of 2:57.88. Smith finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 6.15 meters in addition to placing seventh in the high jump with a height of 1.73 meters. He placed eight in the shot put with a mark of 10.00 meters and was 10th in the pole vault with an effort of 3.00 meters.
The Lyons return to action tomorrow for the final day of the New England DIII Indoor Regional Championship at The TRACK at New Balance in Cambridge, Mass. at 10:00 a.m.
