BOSTON, Mass. — First year Josy Wright (Sharon, Mass.) won the 400 meters with the third-fastest time in school history to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) men's track & field team today at the New England DIII Indoor Championship at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston, Mass.
Wright's time of 47.95 is also the 16th-fastest among NCAA Division III runners this season. His time was one of four top-four all-time Wheaton marks for the men's team today.
Senior Kai Hillier (Hinesburg, Vt.) turned in a time of 4:15.82 to place 14th in the mile with a mark that ranks second on the Lyons' all-time list. Sophomore Gael Vera (Westminster, Mass.) clocked in at 6.98 for the fourth-fastest Wheaton time to place 10th in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash.
The Lyons placed 11th in the distance medley relay behind sophomore Dan McIntyre (Keene, N.H.), first years Tyler Lamonde (Swansea, Mass.) and Nolan Bushnell (Rochester, Mass.) and senior Nick Lacroix (Bedford, N.H.) with a time of 10:37.05 to place fourth in program history.
Wheaton competes again on Saturday, March 7 when it heads to Medford, Mass. for the Tufts Final Qualifier at Tufts University.
