SMITHFIELD, R.I. — The Wheaton College (Mass.) 4X800-meter relay team placed fourth to lead the men's track & field team today at the Jaylin Rainford Invitational hosted at Bryant University's Track and Turf Complex in Smithfield, R.I. The meet was contested by student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II and III institutions. 

The Lyons' 4X800 relay was composed of senior Kai Hillier (Hinesburg, Vt.), first years Nolan Bushnell (Rochester, Mass.), Jack Kittredge (Broad Brook, Conn.) and sophomore Dan McIntyre (Keene, N.H.) and combined on a time of 8:14.23 to finish first among Division III schools with the second-fastest time in school history.

Senior Griffen Copp (Littleton, Mass.) led Wheaton's throwers with a personal-record mark of 12.63 meters to place ninth in the shot put with the third-best distance in program history. He was third among DIII throwers. First year Nick Barbee (Manchester, N.H.) placed 16th overall and sixth among DIII competitors with the 10th-best heave in school history on a mark of 10.97 meters. Sophomore Kieran Templeton (Glens Falls, N.Y.) finished 19th and eighth with a distance of 10.01 meters and junior Logan Quinn (Portsmouth, R.I.) was 20th and ninth with a heave of 9.88 meters. Barbee led the Blue and White with a toss of 36.45 meters in the discus to count as the sixth-best mark in school history and place him 14th in the meet, while Copp was 15th with a heave of 36.09 meters. The pair were third and fourth, respectively, among Division III throwers. Quinn was 32nd overall and 16th in his division with a throw of 27.97 meters. 

Junior Cam Cross (Newport, R.I.) placed 14th overall and sixth among D3 throwers with a distance of 43.24 meters in the javelin, while Quinn was 23rd and 11th in the hammer throw with a toss of 38.23 meters to lead the Lyons. Templeton recorded a throw of 32.37 meters for the ninth-best mark in school history, while placing 29th overall and 16th among D3 competitors. 

Sophomore Joshua Wright (Gorham, Maine) led Wheaton's runners with a time of 1:00.36 to place fifth in the 400 meters and first among DIII runners. First year Liam Reagan (Scarborough, Maine) was seventh and third with a time of 1:00.48 in the event, while junior Andrew Fortin (South Dartmouth, Mass.) was eighth and fourth with a mark of 1:02.14.

Senior Nick Lacroix (Bedford, N.H.) turned in a personal-record time of 16:00.27 to finish fifth overall and second among his division in the unseeded 5000 meters. Senior GJ Mualis (Taunton, Mass.) was 12th in the 100 meters with a time of 11.30 to lead the Lyons and placed 16th in the 200 meters with a clip of 23.16. Junior Kevin Smith (Norfolk, Mass.) finished 14th with Wheaton's top time in the 200 meters at 23.03. 

Hillier finished 14th overall and fifth against the Division III field with a personal-record time of 1:58.34 in the 800 meters, which also ranks as the seventh-fastest mark in program history. Bushnell placed 12th overall and sixth among DIII runners in the 400 meters with a time of 53.02 to lead the Lyons and senior Dante Marciano (Bristol, Conn.) was 18th and 11th. McIntyre clocked in with a personal-record time of 4:17.59 to finish 29th overall and 11th among Division III runners in the 1500 meters.

The Lyons return to the track on Saturday, April 4 when they travel to Atlanta, Ga. to compete in the Emory Dooley Elite Meet.
