SPRINGFIELD, Mass. –- The Wheaton College (Mass.) 4X100 relay team placed fifth to lead the Lyon men's track & field team at the New England Division III Championship at Blake Track on the campus of Springfield College in Springfield, Mass.
Wheaton finished 30th at the meet with a score of five points, while Massachusetts Institute of Technology scored 143 points to earn the team crown.
Seniors Justin Hart (Queens, N.Y.), Anthony Almas (Marstons Mills, Mass.), first year GJ Mualis (Taunton, Mass.) and sophomore Kelvin Peterson (Eliot, Maine) combined to register a time of 42.76 to finish fifth in the 4X100-meter relay for the Lyons.
Sophomore Jordan Pinnix (Manchester, Conn.) finished eighth in the 110-meter hurdles with a personal-record time of 15.08 to score for Wheaton.
Peterson also turned in a personal-best time, crossing the finish at 22.26 to place 11th in the 200 meters, while Almas finished 16th in the event with a mark of 22.37.
Senior Matthew Cahill (Brewster, Mass.) posted a height of 1.86 meters to finish 12th in the high jump and first year Nick Lacroix (Bedford, N.H.) was 18th in the 3000-meter steeple chase with a time of 10:19.14. First year Kai Hillier (Hinesburg, Vt.) clocked in at 4:06.67 to place 23rd for the Lyons.
Wheaton returns to the track on Friday, May 12 when it travels to Stonehill College in Easton, Mass. to compete at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Championship.
