MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Sophomores Jordan Pinnix (Manchester, Conn.) and Kelvin Peterson (Eliot, Maine) and senior Matthew Cahill (Brewster, Mass.) all recorded efforts on Day Two of Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational for the Wheaton College (Mass.) men's track & field team that qualify them for the NCAA Division III New England Championship meet. The Shamrock Invitational is being held at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Pinnix recorded a personal-best time of 15.31 to place 15th in the 110-meter hurdle preliminaries and qualify for the New England Championship. Cahill also qualified in the event with a time of 15.68. Peterson's time of 10.92 is a personal-record and placed him 19th in the preliminaries of the 100 meters.
Sophomore Ryan Ventura (South Easton, Mass.) posted a personal-best leap of 5.51 meters in the long jump for the Lyons.
Wheaton returns to the track tomorrow for the third and final day of the meet in Myrtle Beach.
