BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Matthew Cahill (Brewster, Mass.) finished eighth in the 60-meter hurdles to lead the Wheaton College (Mass.) men's track & field team on the second day of the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Indoor Championship this afternoon at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston, Mass.

Cahill posted a season-best mark of 8.46 in the morning prelims for the Lyons and came back to record a mark of 8.78 to finish eighth in the finals. University of New Haven junior Jordany Dely (Spring Valley, N.Y.) posted a time of 8.13 to win the event. 

Wheaton's 4X400 relay team also turned in a nice showing, placing ninth with a season-best time of 3:22.89 behind sophomore Zac Elmasri (Groton, Mass.), Kelvin Peterson (Eliot, Maine), senior Matt Daley (Branford, Conn.) and sophomore John Dowgiert (Methuen, Mass.). The quartet of junior Derek Chalmers (Wellesley, Mass.), Liam Creeley (West Chester, Pa.), senior Collin Ochs (Southampton, Pa.) and sophomore Jarrett Young (Haverhill, Mass.) posted the top time of 3:17.08 for University of Rhode Island. 

First year Kai Hillier (Hinesburg, Vt.) finished 13th in the mile with a time of 4:25.55 for the Lyons. Sophomore Nolan Hickey (Halfmoon, N.Y.) of Bryant University clocked in at 4:12.31 to win the race.

Peterson registered a mark of 7.14 for Wheaton in the morning prelims for the 60-meter dash to place 16th. First year Cole Martin topped the field for University of Maine with a time of 6.81 in the final.

The Lyons return to action on Saturday, February 11 when they head back to Boston to compete in the Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University at 10:00 a.m.
