ORANGE, Calif. -- The Wheaton College (Mass.) men's tennis team was defeated by Chapman University, 9-0, this afternoon in Orange, Calif. The Lyons fall to 1-5 on the season, while the Panthers improve to 3-4.

Chapman swept doubles play with junior Caleb Wilkins (Long Beach, Calif. and senior Harry Cohen (Malibu, Calif.) combining for an 8-3 win over Wheaton seniors Ian Tracy (San Jose, Costa Rica) and Albert Ortega Campos (Malaga, Spain). The Panthers won both second and third doubles by a count of 8-2 on both courts. Junior Kameron DeHart (San Jose, Calif.) and junior Josh Blinder (Rancho Palo Verdes, Calif.) teamed for the win at second doubles over junior Jack Luyrink (Paxton, Mass.) and first year Karl von Weissenbeck (Winchester, Mass.) for the Lyons. First year Andy Hess (Somis, Calif.) and sophomore Julien Sanseverino (Mission Viejo, Calif.) recorded the victory at number three over the Wheaton duo of junior Chris Register (Portland, Maine) and first year Daniel Bor (Seattle, Wash.).

The Panthers won all six matches in singles play as well. Ortega Campos won four games at number two singles in a 6-2, 6-2 loss to Cohen, while Tracy was downed at first singles, 6-3, 6-0, by Wilkins.

Sophomore Elijah Hanlon (Branford, Conn.) took three games at sixth singles for the Lyons in a 6-1, 6-2 defeat at the hands of Chapman sophomore Mason Marks (Mill Valley, Calif.). Junior Ethan Na (Weatogue, Conn.) fell at third singles to DeHart, 6-1, 6-1, while von Wiessenbeck was set back at fourth singles by Panthers' sophomore Danny Marsh (Irvine, Calif.). Blinder was the victor at number five singles for Chapman with a 6-0, 6-0 effort over Luyrink.

Wheaton returns to the court on Friday, March 18 when it travels to Irvine, Calif. to take on Westcliff University at 12:30 p.m. EDT, while the Panthers host Whitman University on March 19 at 5:00 p.m. EDT.
