Norton, Mass. — May 2, 2021 — Wheaton College men's tennis wrapped up their 2020-21 season with a dominating 7-2 victory over Springfield College on Sunday afternoon in their New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup. The victory gave Wheaton their first victory of the season, improving to 1-4, while Springfield fell to 0-4.
Wheaton swept the doubles matches with victories coming from the trio of partners in Josh Anschuetz (West Bloomfield, Mich.) and Javier Esteban de Celis (Santa Cruz de la Sierra) (8-1), Ian Tracy (San Jose, Coast Rica) and Jack Luyrink (Paxton, Mass.) (8-6), and Ahad Javed (Irving, Texas) and Chris Register (Portland, Maine) (by default).
Wheaton's strong play continued into the singles matches, which they won by a score of 4-2. Victories by Tracy, Anschuetz, Esteban de Celis, and Javed powered Wheaton to their victory.
