Men's Tennis drops contest to Coast Guard

Norton, Mass. – April 17, 2021 – Visiting Coast Guard Academy blanked Wheaton 9-0 on Saturday morning in Beard Field House. The Lyons fall to 0-3 overall and 0-2 on the year in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play.

In the doubles matches, one-seeded Josh Anshuetz (West Bloomfield, Mich.) and Javier Esteban de Celis (Santa Cruz de la Sierra) fought down to the wire for Wheaton before losing 8-7. First year Elijah Hanlon (Branford, Conn.) and Chris Register (Portland, Maine) also hung tough in the third-seeded match in an 8-6 loss. Anshuetz and Esteban de Celis forced a deciding third set in each of their singles matches but were unable to record the victory as both fell 2-1.

Wheaton will be home again next Saturday, April 24 in another NEWMAC fight against Clark University at 3:30 p.m.
