Men's Tennis Celebrates Senior Day

NORTON, Mass. - Senior Alden Zeff was honored by the Wheaton College men's tennis team for Senior Day on Saturday, celebrating his dedication and commitment to the College and program. The Lyons battled the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Bears for a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match where the Bears defeated the Lyons, 7-2.

Opening in action in doubles, Zeff and first-year Jorge Aguirre Martinez competed in the No. 1 spot, but fell 8-4. At No. 2, sophomore Jeremiah Ryser and first-year Zach Strempel defeated the Bears, 8-4, to get the Lyons on the board, but the Coast Guard would fight right back and earn an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles against first-year Diego Garcia Anton and first-year Ned Roosevelt.

In singles, No. 2 Aguirre Martinez notched the lone win for Wheaton with a 6-2, 6-2 decision.

The Lyons compete next on Sunday, hosting Union (N.Y.) at the Clark Tennis Courts with match time set to start at 1 p.m.
