NORTON, Mass. - The Wheaton College men's tennis team defeated the Clark University Cougars, 7-2, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action Wednesday evening hosted at Beard Field House.
Wheaton opened the meet by sweeping doubles with wins at No. 1 from senior Alden Zeff and first-year Jorge Aguirre Martinez (8-1), No. 2 sophomore Jeremiah Ryser and first-year Zach Strempel (9-8) and No. 3 first-year Diego Garcia Anton and first-year Ned Roosevelt (9-7).
In singles, No. 2 Aguirre Martinez (6-0, 6-1), No. 3 Zeff (6-3, 6-2), No. 4 Roosevelt (6-4, 1-6, 10-8) and No. 5 Garcia (6-3, 6-3) continued their domination and sealed the 7-2 victory.
The Lyons wrap up the 2016-17 regular season hosting Babson College on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in Beard Fieldhouse.
