Men's Tennis Competes Against No. 13 Amherst

AMHERST, Mass. - The Wheaton College men's tennis team traveled to Amherst College on Saturday to compete against the No. 13 ranked team who went on to sweep the Lyons, 9-0, hosted at the Amherst Tennis Courts.

Wheaton moves to 3-12 overall on the year while Amherst earns their seventh straight match and advances to 19-3 overall.

Amherst opened the match with a strong showing in doubles, earning an 8-3 victory at No. 1 against sophomore Jeremiah Ryser and senior Alden Zeff. They went on to defeat the Lyons in the No. 2 spot, 8-1, against first-year Diego Garcia Anton and first-year Ned Roosevelt before concluding doubles with a win at No. 3 against first-year Zach Strempel and sophomore Nick Hotary.

Amherst carried their momentum into singles play where they completed the sweep of the Lyons and claimed the 9-0 victory.

Wheaton travels to Clark University on Tuesday for their next New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match, set to begin at 4 p.m.
